A lot of you may know Vic West as that area “across the bridge” but aren’t too sure what to expect from one of Victoria’s historic and principally industrial neighbourhoods.

 

I may be slightly biased as I live in the area but over the past few years, I have grown to appreciate all that it has to offer.

 

Vic West offers all the convenience of being close to downtown but still has the quietness, walkability and charm that you value in a residential neighbourhood.

 

 

There is so much beauty to take in with stunning views of downtown Victoria, the inner harbour and James Bay across the water. Vic West’s geographic location allows residents convenient access to bike lanes, pedestrian walkways, and water taxis for an enjoyable short commute into downtown.

 

 

Spend your Saturday walking or biking along the Galloping Goose and then stop at Caffe Fantastico or Fol Epi on Harbour road for lunch. Other popular restaurants and cafes in Vic West include Boom + Batten, Lure, Spinnakers and Fry’s bakery.

 

 

Vic West, historically known for its industrial workforce, Point Hope Maritime shipyard and E&N Roundhouse, has maintained its industrial roots.

 

The area is also home to some beautiful residential condos as well as single-family homes. For instance, Shutters, The Promontory, Encore, Bayview, and The Railyards are some past notable residential developments.

 

 

Looking forward, Vic West has some exciting future projects including the Dockside Green development with commercial and residential towers.

 

Also, the revitalization of the E&N Roundhouse into a mixture of residential homes, retail space, and more importantly a gathering place for the community and Victoria residents alike!
